The Mission Control OverPower expansion debuted in April 1996 with 142 cards (10 Character Cards, 68 Special Cards, 14 Mission Cards 50 Event Cards).

What is Mission Control OverPower?

Mission Control OverPower became more sophisticated with the introduction of Events.

Events could alter each battle in strange and unpredictable ways for both players, adding a new layer of complexity to an already exciting game.

The Booster Packs made available the previously hard to find Any Hero Specials and introduced more popular new characters like Nightcrawler, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and The Sentinels.

Strength decks still continued to dominate the game. The majority of entries at the OverPower Nationals at Gen-Con in Wisconsin were Strength decks, with a smattering of other types. Strength didnt know it, but its days were numbered.

No new characters with an eight were introduced.

Cards were distributed in:

  • Booster packs of 9 cards
  • Booster boxes of 36 booster packs
