If it is played offensively, the Character using the Special may not be attacked by opponent's team for the remainder of the Battle. If it is used defensively, the card would act as an AG Special, thus avoiding the attack, and then would remain in play for the remainder of Battle. If this Special were already in play and a fellow teammate shifted an attack to the Character who played this Special (e.g., with an AC Special) then the Character would still have to defend this attack because the attack is no longer from the opponent's team. If this Special were not in play, and the teammate shifted the attack to this Character, the BJ Special may be used to avoid the attack.
Meta Rules
Meta #66 Specials which alter how a Character may be attacked (that can normally be played defensively) can be played defensively against an attack that has been shifted onto them. However, once the Special is in play, it is ineffective against subsequent attacks which are shifted onto the Character.
Meta #67 An 'avoid' Special can only be played when the target of the attack is the player of the Special.
